- Solar Panels: They come in a variety of styles and wattages. The panels we use range from 170W to 315W. PV panels are the heart of the system and convert sunlight into DC electricity. The panels are 3 feet by 5 feet on average and the exterior glass is extremely durable being able to withstand golf-ball sized hail. We carry Sharp, Evergreen, Yingli, and Sanyo Panels. They have warranties for 25-30 years.
Inverter: These units convert the DC electricity that the panels produce and convert it into AC electricity that can back feed into your main electrical panel. Future City Solar uses inverter manufactured by SMA, Fronius, PV Powered, Outback, and Satcon. These inverter come with a 10 year warranty. The inverter we use is typically decided by the number, type, and string configuration of the solar panels being used in the system.
Racking:Securely attaches the PV modules to a stable structure such as the roof, ground, or pole. In the case of a house, the racking is lagged into the rafters on your home. For ground mounts, the racking is built on metal poles that have been set in concrete. For businesses, we often use a ballasted racking system that has few or no penetrations. Instead the panels and racking are held to the roof by weighted paver blocks. At Future City Solar we use mainly Unirac racking systems.
