Jordis Yost
Oregon State University Extension Service
When Jordis and her husband, Michael, moved to the Columbia River Gorge area in 1990, one of the first things they did was take the OSU Master Gardener courseā¦and get a few chickens. As the gardens grew and fruit trees planted, the new poultry companions earned their place in the family. Now, with 20 years of learning about “the girls”, Jordis enjoys sharing some practical tips and adventures of having a backyard flock. “The girls” inspired her to write a book on the subject. And, she put her Master Gardeners certificate to good use. She works for the program at the Oregon State University Extension service in Clackamas Co.
