That's why they are the first lodging property in Oregon to achieve a Green Seal certification. Sustainability is their mission, and each employee helps make the difference. From their kitchen staff to upper management, they are in the business of helping the planet.
The Doubletree Lloyd Center is proud to be a regional leader in greening the hospitality industry. They have been recognized by the City of Portland, the US Environmental Protection Agency, and in the local and national press for their efforts.
They understand that sustainability is a journey, and they are involved in the ongoing process of improving their operations and conserving our resources. Here are a few of the accomplishments they have made to date:
- Reduced overall waste disposal by 65% since 1996
- Diverted kitchen waste into compost at an average rate of 14 tons per month
- Employee paper-saving program has reduced office paper purchasing by 20% annually
- Retrofits have reduced water usage by 15%
- Total energy consumption has been brought down by 32%
- Employee mass transit subsidies have saved 7,400 gallons of gasoline since 1999
- Established property-wide recycling program for containers, office products, cooking oil, and fluorescent light bulbs
- Implemented a comprehensive Environmental Purchasing Policy
- Purchase 35,000 kilowatt hours of its electricity from wind power each year
- Purchase 65% of our food products from within a 500-mile region
They also recently completed an energy and water audit, and have just launched the first Carbon Calculator specifically created for a hotel. Their goal is to help our guests offset the amount of carbon dioxide produced through traveling and staying at their property. |

Getting to the Show
We specifically chose the Doubletree Hotel because of their dedication to sustainability. It is a little farther from the show, but we believe in supporting responsible businesses. And quite frankly, it is a beautiful hotel.
There are three options to get to the show from the Doubletree:
EcoShuttle will have a van available in the morning to take guests to the show and back again at the end of the day. This service is free and on a first come first served basis.
MAX light rail offers door-to-door service from our hotel to the show and the Portland Airport.
