Bernice is a great big dog that is mistaken for a bear everywhere she goes. In a story that just had to be told, she learns a thing or two about bears and how it feels to be different.
Rob Adamowski fondly recalls images from the books of his childhood. Lasting impressions were made by the brilliant illustrations of N. C. Wyeth in Treasure Island and those found in the pages of books by Rudyard Kipling.
When a true story inspired Rob to create his own children’s book, it was natural that he identify an illustrator who would bring similar elements of imagination and rich texture to the frame, while complimenting and enhancing the warmth of the story.

Kellee Beaudry worked for many years as a
children’s counselor before launching her career as a full-time artist painting
dogs, cats and the other pets that enrich our lives. The Portland, Oregon native
was encouraged to take this step after a painting she did of dogs received wide
acclaim and resulted in numerous requests for pet portraits.
Her art is inspired by the deep colors and bold brushwork of masters like Van Gogh and seeks to capture the bond we have with our funny, furry companions.
